Planned Activities On Our Big Trip

Planned Activities On Our Big Trip

For each country we are visiting , we have looked up at least a few activities/places to visit for each country, and for some – each city. That being said, there were a select few that were on the list before we even did any major google research.

Today’s post will touch on the BIG ONES….

  • Where in the world they are located
  • Why we want to go
  • The estimated cost

Big activities

WM Keck Observatory

1442721976dj1gt

  • Location

    Waimea, Hawaii

  • Why we want to go
Seeing the stars by way of the twin Keck telescopes—the world’s largest optical and infrared telescopes is a once in a life time experience!
  • The estimated cost
    ????

Elephant Sanctuary Visit

IMG_0600-min

  • Location
    Chiang Mai, Thailand
  • Why we want to go
I LOVE elephants – but I don’t love the terrible tourism surrounding the enslavement of these animals. Lucky for us, there is an elephant sanctuary that enables someone to play and hang out with elephants, but does not allow cruelty or riding.
  • The estimated cost
    220$ CAD for 2 days/1 night

Yoga Instructor Course

wiyxt9wh-min

  • Location
    Goa, India
  • Why we want to go
Teaching yoga is my dream job. I figured where better to learn how to teach than the birthplace of Yoga, India. I may be going to Goa (which was formerly colonized by Portugal), but in my mind, it is India none the less.
  • The estimated cost
    1695$ for 24 days/200 RYT certification

Safari

  • Location
    Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
  • Why we want to go
Seeing animals in the wild excites me beyond belief! I’ve seen plenty of animals in captivity, but they all looked very sad. I long to see happy animals in person!
  • The estimated cost
    500$+

Gorilla Trekking

file0001164231260-min

  • Location
    Uganda
  • Why we want to go
I don’t have a bucket list, but if I did, this would be on it! Gorillas are one of my favorite animals, and I love that I have a chance of seeing them in the wild. Mountain Gorillas are near extinct (around 850 left in the wild), so it is very important these creatures get the exposure but also ability to live that they need.
  • The estimated cost
Approx 1500$ CAD a person, minimum.

As you can see, our big activities are going to be quite expensive (about 40% of our total trips cost)… but I figured since this was a once in a lifetime trip, I may as well do it now while I still can!
